Default Drop to player ratio???

Hi all.

Just wondering the ratio of drops per group.

I did 2 of the Desert Missions today (Elona & Dunes). Both times with PUGs
thoughout the missions I was recieving fewer drops than the rest of the group, in fact we were halfway thru Elona before I got my first drop.
We had killed about 20+ mobs so surely I should have recieved at least 2 before that, going by a simple ratio of good guys to bad.

Is the drop rate random or decided by some or other contributing factor????

Just curious coz it is even worse with henchies even if I do a hell of alot more damage than them.

*sigh* Think this has been beaten to death but .........

Drops are random but if you play long enough you will find that you do get your share of the drops.

solo ..... 100%
2 people ....... 50%
3 people ....... 33 1/3%
etc, etc, etc ............................................

(henchies=people in this equation)

It's all random. Being in a group of 8 will yield about 12% of the drops for you, based upon percentages. Although this not always true, I've seen people get 4 or 5 consecutive drops in a group of 8. Technically, you can play an entire mission with 8 people and 1 person COULD get every single drop, but highly highly unlikely. It's all random.

If its all random why is it that i have over 500 hours more than i guildmate, His account has 7 sup runes of vigor and I have never goten one. Ive been playing guild wars since the beta test, was wondering why and if they are random maybe some can explaine the system to me cause i cant seem to find any reason to it

And I know my spelling sucks so dont bother to complaine about it Thank you

Lor, they can't explain anymore than they have it if it's random, which it is. First there's the chance of an item dropping at all, when this does happen, each person has an equal chance of getting that drop. This doesn't count for total drops, it's that drop only. You are not guaranteed any drops at all, only the percentage for a chance to get any item that does drop.

As for the superior vigor runes thing, you're just not lucky. There's a random chance of getting each rune when you ID something, you just haven't hit the lucky superior vigor yet.

What about that whole gold spilt fourmula ...thing.
If I am in a group of 3 and 4 gold drops who gets the extra gold?
If I am in a group or 3 and 2 gold drops who gets the shaft?

It's random. Period. It always seems like others get more/better drops than I do regardless of which toon I'm playing but remember that you are seeing things drop for up to 7 other people so that may skew your view slightly.

Recent outings have been in my favor though - got a green and 2 golds in Sorrows Furnace (only green that dropped for us), got a decent longbow in Nightfall (sold for 20k on auction), got an ecto (1 of 5 that dropped, 3 others missed out) + decent green on a Tombs run.

As far as more runes of vigor, is there any farming going on there? Hunting for them could explain why they have gotten more of them. I think I've gotten 2 superior and have been playing since May '05 and not a hardcore farmer.

Random is random.

I would have to agree with this, back when you could farm the tengu outside riverside province, I spent a fair amount of time there with my 55 monk(probably about a month at 2-3 hours a day). I never got a sup vigor, but I did get a sup absorption(which at the time was worth about 98k). I've also been playing since about May 05(and I've logged about 1500 hours) and I still haven't had a sup vigor drop for me anywhere. So I'd say it's all about luck.

It is all about luck, I've only ever gotten 5 or 6 black dyes drop for me in over 2,500 hours of playing since release. The first one I got was after playing for 8 months. Many people have much better luck than this.

BUT, I've had my share of very nice drops, too. Not long after Tombs went PvE, I got an ecto, a black dye, and a victo's axe in the same run.

It IS always true, remember those numbers a few post above yours?
If your in a group of 8 each one of you has a 12.5 % of getting a drop fall for you each time a drop falls.
So no matter if the one single person gets 7 drops in a row ,meaning he has gotten 100% drops , or 87.5% of 8 drops, the next time a drop will fall the percentage will still be 12.5% for each party member, even tho the numbers may not show it, its still so.

Heres a good example , if i throw a dime 9 times up and it drops 4 times heads and 5 times face, what is the percentage that it will fall head the next time i throw it?

Same rule applies here.
